Equip Spell Cards (cross symbol) work similarly to Continuous Spells in that they remain on the field after activation. However, Equip Spells target only one monster at a time. Some Equip Spells will only work on specific monster, e.g. "Equip only to Spellcaster-Type monsters." Like Continuous Spells, only a card effect can remove them from the field.

Field Spells (compass symbol) are very special cards. Unlike other Spells and Traps, Field Spells have their own zone on the playing field, but can still be played face-down. Also, unlike other Spells and Traps, there can be only 1 active Field Spell at a time. So, when a Field Spell is activated while another one is active, the already-active Field Spell is sent to the Graveyard. Field Spells, like Continuous, continue to work even after they're activated. Field Spells alter the game in the favor of certain monsters, for example, the Field Spell Card, Mystic Plasma Zone, only affects Dark monsters, while Luminous Spark affects Light monsters only.

Ritual Spell cards (torch symbol) are the necessary cards used for summoning Ritual monsters. Each Ritual Spell card contains the name of its respective monster and the cost to summon it on its card text. In order for a Ritual Summon to work, both the monster and its Ritual Spell <i>must be in your hand</i>. Rituals are sent to the Graveyard immediately after use, but the Ritual Monster remains (unless circumstances are different).
